The Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department is proud to participate in New York State’s annual RecruitNY Weekend, a statewide initiative focused on connecting communities with their local volunteer fire departments.
In April 2026 department members staged equipment at Eastview Mall and Hitching Post Plaza to bring
their experience and dedication to the public. This is planned for 2027 and is a great opportunity to talk
to the fire service community about all aspects of what they do and why they do it.
In 1940, community members recognized the need for fire services and put time and money into making
it happen. The department maintains 3 engines, a ladder and a rescue truck to support the district. In
addition, the members manage the operation as volunteers fulfilling the needs of a non-profit business.

💬 A Message from Leadership
“We welcome the community to join us during RecruitNY Weekend. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your local volunteer firefighters and learn more about the fire service. We are always looking for new members, and we hope more people will consider becoming part of our family.”
